Today is Day 2 of The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren, which I’m reading for Lent. Each chapter includes a supplemental sermon by Pastor Rick. Today’s sermon talks about “Life’s Greatest Questions”:
- The Question of Existence: Why am I alive?
- The Question of Significance: Does my life matter?
- The Question of Intention:
The sermon has a lot of good nuggets of wisdom. Here’s one that I wrote in my journal: “Everyone lives at one of three levels of existence: survival, success, and significance. The majority of humanity lives at survival mode, economically speaking. All Americans–even the poorest–live at the success level, given their comparative wealth. But God made us for more than survival or success. He made us for significance.”
